Jungle Safari Theme Party Decorating Ideas #1: Having a difficult time creating a jungle feel because you dont have any plants in the house? At your local discount fabric store you can find fun jungle or animal prints. Find a pattern with dense, jungle leaves and decorate the entrance to your party with it (both sides of the entranceway.) Some green streamers draped densely from above the door could cover the overhead area, your fabric creates the jungle sides. Use green light bulbs in the area and shine them on the plants, streamers or fabric to add to the foliage feel. Jungle Safari Theme Party Decorating Ideas #2: Another idea for an inexpensive jungle, get a lot of green streamers. Try to get at least two different shades of green and maybe one brown roll, too. Hang and droop the streamers randomly and densely throughout the party area and NOT just overhead. You can make green construction paper leaves to tape to the streamers. If you have some artificial vines and leaves, you can sprinkle these around among the streamers so youll have the leaves of a jungle and the streamers will fill in the rest of the space. Let the vines you create hang to the floor, wrap around some of the furniture, even squiggle on the ground. As long as it doesnt look uniform (the way normal streamers might) it will add the great jungle colors to your event. You can also hang some in doorways as vines blocking the path and your guests will have to brush aside the vines as they walk about! Use green light bulbs in the area and shine them on the plants, streamers or fabric to add to the foliage feel. Jungle Safari Theme Party Decorating Ideas #3: Use wrapping paper tubes and green construction paper to make trees around the party area. This could be much simpler than creating real plants. Jungle Safari Theme Party Decorating Ideas #4: Create an indoor African hut in your home! If you don't have the space, you can make a half' hut (basically, the front façade only) - this may be preferable depending on how many guests you expect. Stack together moving boxes or storage totes in two columns. Cover the boxes with brown fabric, cardboard, or brown packaging paper. You could even draw lines directly on the sides of your moving boxes to look like driftwood put together for the hut. Or, you can take additional cardboard and tear it into randomly shaped shingles, glue them to the sides. If you have bamboo, you can prop them against the sides of the hut, or even attach them to the sides directly. They will add dimension to the project. For the roof, you can use Hawaiian skirts, imitation or real palm fronds, even some raffia. You could use a separate piece of cardboard as a door into the hut if you feel a need for a door. You could put treasure, rubber snakes or spiders, food, or even have a person sit inside the hut as additional decoration. Jungle Safari Theme Party Decorating Ideas #5: Create a waterfall entrance to your event. Hang different shades of blue streamers from the top of a staircase, over a doorway, or from the top of a doorframe. Use a few white streamers to add a rushing water feel to the flow. You can drape some streamers alongside the fall in wave shapes along the walls (if you are inside). Hang some vines atop the waterfall to hide where youve attached the streamers. Find a sound effects CD or water music CD at the library and you can play it continuously as well. Jungle Safari Theme Party Decorating Ideas #6: For a great looking lost ruins temple entrance, stack up plain cardboard boxes on both sides of the doorway. If the ceiling is high enough, create a pediment above the two pillars, stretching across the top of the door jam. Use the stone painting technique as described in idea 12 below. For the final touch, attach some fines to the pillars and the pediment for a real overgrown lost city feel! Jungle Safari Theme Party Decorating Ideas #7: Purchase a roll of thin, rustic twine to hang around your jungle. Make sure that they droop in different directions (not uniform less they look more like streamers than vines.) Once secure, these are sturdy enough to hold images of monkeys and/or bananas. You could give your guests coloring book images of monkeys to color while they are waiting for other guests to arrive or they could draw their own monkeys. Its a great way to beef up decorations and keep your guests busy! Jungle Safari Theme Party Decorating Ideas #8: This may sound a bit extravagant, but go with me on this one Make a cave. The cave could be a mere few feet deep and a couple of feet tall or it could consist of an entire hallway (if you are so ambitious). Use crumpled brown packing paper for the walls. Position some digging tools, lamps, even some treasure at the end inside. Hang a driftwood sign at the entrance (see Idea 23 below). This is a nice touch for the hallway leading to a bathroom. Smaller caves can be a curiosity for your guests where does it lead? Whats at the end? I have had guests get down on their hands and knees, too curious as to what might be inside. If you really want to go for it, get your hands on some chicken wire for the structure of the cave (molding it first into the shape you want) and paper mache the walls.
